Mark D. Ein

Mark Ein is the founder and CEO of Venturehouse Group, LLC, a technology holding company that creates, invests in and builds world-class Internet, technology and telecommunications companies. Prior to forming Venturehouse Group, Mark was a Principal with The Carlyle Group, a large private equity firm with offices around the world. From 1992 to 1999, Mark had primary responsibility for many of Carlyle’s telecommunications investment activities and led private equity investments of more than $300 million in telecommunications and technology companies.

Mark has been involved in the creation of three public companies that now have market capitalizations in excess of $5 billion: Aether Systems Inc., where he was a co-founder, Teligent and American Tower Corporation. Mark also worked as an Associate with Brentwood Associates, a leading West Coast venture capital firm, where he worked on both leveraged buyout and venture capital transactions. Prior to that, Mark was with Goldman Sachs & Co., where he solicited, structured and marketed the sale and financing of major real estate properties.

Mark currently serves on the Board of Directors of Aether Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: AETH), LCC International (NASDAQ: LCCI) and Telcom Ventures, LLC, as well as several private companies. He has previously served on the boards of HighwayMaster Corporation (NASDAQ: HWYM), American Tower Corporation, Prime Cable (which purchased the cable systems formerly owned by SBC), Prime Communications Sites, Transit Communications, Liberty Broadcasting, Four Seasons Communications and Corporacion Mobilcom.

Mark is a graduate of University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Finance and received his MBA from the Harvard Business School. He is a native of the Washington area and is deeply committed to the region. Mark actively supports many local community, charitable and cultural organizations and is particularly interested in attracting the skills and resources of the technology and entrepreneurial community to these organizations.
