Alltel Wireless announced the launch of Alltel Perks, offering subscribers customized content including sports scores, weather, discounts and trivia directly to their mobile handsets. Available for download via the Alltel Shop, Alltel Perks (powered by content and advertising services provider Mobile Posse) delivers content to the idle screen when the phone is not in use--subscribers will receive content including coupons from local merchants and favorite restaurants, sports scores, local weather forecasts and more.

As offers download to the device, users can open the banner to display more content by selecting the "View" hot button as indicated on the phone--if another button is selected, the offer goes away to avoid intrusion on the desired user experience. The Alltel Perks download is free, although airtime charges may apply.
